Taittinger regatta, Yarmouth

Seriously fun racing with lots of bubbly!

Taittinger Regatta 2015

Organised by the Royal Solent Yacht Club, 2015 will see the third edition of the racing weekend. Held over two days, there are three or four inshore races over two days, with a champagne reception on Friday. Which we cannot possibly miss! We will be bringing Intuition to the party, our Reflex 38, which is a proven and very exciting racer. Come and join in, you’ll love it.

Dates: 24 – 26 July, 2015

Individual places are available on our race-ready super-tuned uber-fast racing machine – Intuition!! She is a Reflex 38 and was build to win. Her sistership Puma won the class at Cowes Week 2014!

Plan of action

Friday, 24th July, 10:00 Arrival and training day. Mooring in Yarmouth, for a Champagne Reception
Saturday, 25th of July RACE, RACE, RACE!
Sunday, 26th of July Race and Prize giving ceremony
Sunday, 26th of July, Evening Depart for Mercury Yacht Harbour, arrival around 8pm.

What is it all about?

Some exciting IRC racing in the Western Solent, something that we don’t have enough of, being based in the Central Solent, and it makes for some very competitive bunch. It’s all quite tactical, and it’s not that easy to beat the local crowd, so we’ll have to work very hard!

Intuition’s sistership, Puma, won Taittinger in 2014, so it’s up for grabs!

I came for a 5 days course and it was freeezing! I did come in February though, so serves me right. There was a proper heater onboard though, so we we fine. The course structure was excellent, Aubrey [instructor] really knew his stuff and it was fun. Lots of mooring, which is what I was after. Feel much more confident now, and thanks for the pies, v. good :-)

Staying in a different marina every night was the highlight for me. This is what cruising is about, I guess, so not coming back to Mercury was ideal, I got to know the Solent pretty well. Lee [instructor] was good at stepping back and letting us do it ourselves, which was very useful. Thanks again, and see you next year!

Hi guys, just a quick note to say THANKS! I was really nervous, but it was all good in the end. We just practiced every day and little by little I figured it out, I can moor! Still a little nervous, but the basics are there now, I understand what needs to be done. I’ll come back for the mile building, I think. All in all, the course was well structured, very much hands on and I liked the boat, very plush :J Thanks for a great week!
